The expansive and largely untouched front and rear lawns are anchored by couple of anachronous ficus trees that act as generous foreground for the house. It is the courtyard with its orchestrated reflective pool, infinity-edged swimming pool, and floating wooden decks which engages with the mostly transparent, folding threshold of the house.
This beautiful residence is located on the peak of a hill in California, meaning that its key attractions include the gorgeous views that we can enjoy through the house’s numerous glass walls. At a size of 2,750 square feet, it was Design Studio in 2014 for a retired couple, seeking to settle down somewhere where they could take in the natural environment.
The villa is integrated with a park landscape through large glass curtains that allow spatial orientation and transparency, inviting the users to constant interaction with the nature. The landscape design provides a constant variety of visual attractiveness and sensational volatility through the seasons. Materials used in the external and interior design are traditional, natural, of predominantly warm brown tones, with minimal final treatment, ensuring a feeling of warmth and connection with the nature for the owner and all other users.
